San Antonio, TX Many practitioners believe that planning for persons with disabilities is poverty planning, but the fact is that many affluent clients have disabled loved ones. For most affluent clients, maintaining eligibility for poverty programs such as SSI and MediCal are secondary to their interest in protecting them from abuse and neglect while maintaining an acceptable standard of living. This presentation will focus on how the financial advisor can work as part of a larger team to provide lifelong protection for the most vulnerable member of their client’s family and accomplish a good investment and tax result. Mr. Dale will cover how to create a team to administer the Special Needs Trust, and financial planning techniques such as use of qualified plans and charitable planning as a funding mechanism for Special Needs Trusts.
